Six Artist. 19 Acres of Pacific Northwest Wilderness. One Very Inspiring Cabin

Have you ever wanted to spend your days making art, without errands, screens, or anything pulling you away? Just you, your brushes, and the world asking to be painted.
Welch Cabin in Kalama, Washington is a quiet, comfortable place for exactly that.
The rustic, well-equipped cabin sleeps up to six, which makes it a great spot for a small group of artists who want to paint, explore, and learn from one another.
Whether you work in oils, watercolor, or simple pen and ink, you will find endless inspiration here:

Woodland Studies
River Views
Wild Flowers
Mount St Helens
Wildlife

Step outside and you have 19 acres of Pacific Northwest forest ready for study. There is dappled light through old-growth trees, moss-covered stones, and the soft lines of ferns everywhere you look. From the deck, perched 90 feet above the Kalama River, the shifting light on the water can guide your next piece.
If you want something bigger, take a short drive to Mount St. Helens and try your hand at a study of the volcano with its dramatic ridgelines and wide-open sky.

Early summer brings a burst of color. Wildflowers cover the hillsides, native plants push up through the forest floor, and wildlife moves through the trees at dawn and dusk. Everything feels alive and ready to be painted.
After a long day outside, come back to the cabin and gather around the table to compare studies, share techniques, and talk about what you noticed. The space is set up for this kind of working retreat, a place to create, recharge, and head back out again.
Welch Cabin does not tell you what to paint. It simply gives you the space and the landscape to discover it for yourself.
